The SAVF recently supported the International Veterinary Students
Association Development Fund Project to assist them to purchase
computers for the Samora Machel School of Veterinary Medicine in
Zambia. A South African veterinary student, Jessica Dicks was in
charge of the project.
By running fund raising projects and
getting financial or other support from individuals, companies and
organisations she managed to donate 10 computers and laser printer
to the Zambian students. She personally flew to Zambia to hand the
computers over to the student body and assisted in installing them.
The Veterinary Foundation is proud to be associated with this
project to assist students in developing African countries. It is
vital to have a good veterinary infrastructure in our neighbouring
countries to prevent the spread of diseases to South Africa.
